George Floyd

Written by: Kenya Evelyn in Washington  @LiveFromKenya

The FBI and authorities in Minnesota have launched investigations into the death of an African American man after an incident, captured on video, in which a white Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck as he lay on the ground.

In the footage the man, later identified as George Floyd,46, can be heard to shout “I cannot breathe” and “Don’t kill me!” He then becomes motionless, eyes...

Are You Willing To Change?

Are You Willing To Change?

When you want something in life, sacrifices must be made.  Something must be given up to attain that which you greatly desire.  A lot of times when people hear the word ‘sacrifice’ they instantly think of “Illuminati,” and killing your grandma, your sister, your brother, or your dog.  I am not touching that with a 10-foot pole. LOL.  But what I will touch on is what my own personal journey has taught me so far: You must be willing to...

Cory Booker: ‘Now is the time for the Senate to act’

Cory Booker: ‘Now is the time for the Senate to act’

By Cory Booker

As the number of cases of COVID-19 continues to climb here in New Jersey and across the country, public health experts are making it abundantly clear: every day that passes without decisive action from the federal government makes this virus more dangerous to us all, and especially to the most vulnerable.

There’s so much work to do, but one of the most overlooked tools available to us to aid in slowing the spread of this...

Strike While The Iron Is Hot

Strike While The Iron Is Hot

Recently, I was smacked in the face with a truth about my success and 2020.  I realized that my success in 2020 hinges on ‘striking while the iron is hot’.  Meaning, I need to promptly act on opportunities that come my way this year.

I constantly have inspired ideas and creative thoughts.  But I tend to be slow to act on them.  I write the idea down -with the goal of coming back to it when I have ample time and I’m...

Guard Your Gates

Guard Your Gates

Y’all!   When I tell you it is so easy to get off post, and start frolicking about in the palace, and before you know it, your whole territory is under siege, I am telling you the God’s honest truth! You have to stand guard of your gates! You have to know who is coming in and going out. You have to protect that which is near and dear, and of value to you.   If you think of your...

Importance of Visualizing

Importance of Visualizing

Wow.  This concept has crept back up when I was least expecting it!  Over the past couple of months, I’ve been reintroduced to the importance of visualizing.  I used to visualize all the time in Atlanta. I had a whole routine I used to run. I even created and ran a challenge around it a few times.   I know firsthand how it keeps you centered and focused on a whole nother level.   But unfortunately, I fell off from...

About Me

What’s up, girl! Lisa Mei here.

Content Curator, Creator and Social Commentator.

In a nutshell I’m a Believer in Christ, who’s passionate about Politics, Pop Culture, and Personal Development.

I’m a student of life who seeks to learn as much as I can, and share as much as I can.

I’ve always been curious about life and the things going on in the world.  And fascinated with people and their journey in life.  The talent they bring to it and the wisdom they’ve gleaned from it.  As someone committed to personal growth and development, I’m always on the lookout for how to level up and do life better in general.

If my journey in life so far has taught me anything, it’s that my community of black people need quality information, plain and simple.  Information that not only informs, but inspires and benefits us. Information we can learn, grow, and evolve from.  We also need space to do it in and community to do it with.

Therefore, through this blog, I aim to learn, share, and grow with others through the intersection of politics, faith and black culture.  I believe that when we know better, we do better.  And for me, it’s important for that “better” to be aligned with God’s will and purpose, and pushes us and black culture forward.

This is my Pursuit of Excellence- spiritual excellence and black cultural excellence.  I invite you to join me, Beautiful!
